Integration of a SE-HCI expert in a usability lab

Abstract

Ergonomists are more and more involved in design or re-engineering projects of software to support user-centered design (UCD) approach. Thus ergonomists and the development team have to work in collaboration to achieve this objective. However, there exist difficulties to optimize the ergonomic intervention in design or re-engineering projects of software. Ergonomists do not always understand the development team point of view and the development team doesn‟t always understand the impact of Human Factors (HF) in software design. To overcome these difficulties, an intermediate role between ergonomists and development teams has been created in a usability lab. This article presents a project experience feedback on this intermediate role.
