Macro-modeling of the strength and failure of multi-layer multi-steel grade spot welds: Connector formulation, assembly model and identification procedure

Résumé

The aim of this paper is to investigate the mechanical strength and the failure of three-sheet multi-steel grade Resistance Spot Welded assemblies (RSW) using experimental and numerical tests. A macroscopic modeling approach, using three connector elements, dedicated to the crashworthiness analysis is therefore proposed. The proposed model involves parameters that have to be set. To simplify and to reduce the optimization problem, direct and inverse identification approaches are proposed. The numerical results are in good agreement with the experimental ones for both pure and combined Arcan tests for the different studied configurations.
