Model derivation principles for specification and design of multi-platform HCI

Abstract

The design of the interfaces and the mechanisms of interaction in the information systems, still pose problems and requires as well design methods as realization tools. One of these problems exists in the multitude of reception platforms for such applications. The modelisation complexity requires the use of approaches being based on the theoretical contributions of new formal methods, such as TOOD, considering the data, the distributed tasks and the multi-user aspect while ensuring the independence of the target platform. In order to improve the portability of the interactive applications, and more particularly, the portability of their HCI (Human-Computer Interface), our research work aims to ensure an adaptability of the HCI to the interaction resources basing on specifications independent of the interaction devices. For that, we plan to define the specifications in a marker language (of XML type) to establish a multiple code (C++, JAVA...) and multi-platform (Palm, mobile Telephone, and if possible a whole of future communication devices) generation.
