Estimation of parameters of heterogeneous concrete by non-contact method of surface waves : studies of role of frequency range

Résumé

This work is devoted to study of the influence of selection of frequency range of dispersion curve of surface waves on estimation efficiency of shear wave velocities and thickness of inhomogeneous concrete cover. The non-contact ultrasonic method, signal processing and numerical optimization procedure along with the Thomson-Haskel model are used. The wave is excited by properly inclined to the surface non-contact piezoceramic transducer and reception of leaky waves takes place by moving along the surface second non-contact transducer. Dispersion curves are obtained by using the Slant-Stack transformation. Model concrete blocs consisting of two different homogeneous layers (concrete classes C8 and C20) with different thickness are prepared and tested. Ultrasonic measurements were performed for frequencies from 30 kHz to 150kHz The efficiency of estimation were first tested for synthetic data (obtained directly from the solution of the Thomson-Haskel model), and then using the data obtained from the experiments. Quality of estimation was assessed based on analysis of error of fitting as well as by comparison of estimated parameters with results obtained from other methods, particularly contact ultrasound.
