Enhancing the memorization of tactical soccer scenes: Investigating the role of drawing according to visuospatial abilities

Résumé

This study investigates the impact of drawing on the memorization of soccer tactical scenes, considering visuospatial abilities (VSA). Fifty-four novice male players were randomly assigned to two conditions: a control condition (pre-drawn diagrams with oral explanation) and an experimental condition (coach drawing with explanation). Key findings reveal an interaction between drawing and VSA: participants with high-VSA memorize better with drawing. The study highlights the importance of adapting the drawing format of tactical diagrams based on individual characteristics for optimized memorization.
