Ideation, Focus Groups, and Brainstorming

Résumé

Ideation is a key factor of success in more and more domains today. It can be integrated in different ways in projects, whatever the adapted methodological approaches are. Many methods supporting ideation are currently available and are widely used by researchers and practitioners. They evolve rapidly while being the object of different variants. This chapter gives a significant overview, focusing on the domain of human–computer interaction or UX design. It describes in more depth and illustrates two of the most commonly used approaches today: focus group and brainstorming. Different perspectives for ideation conclude this chapter.
